A dog owner from Connecticut has been cheered online after her daughter shared a heartwarming clip of how she wakes up her dog every day.

In the video, shared on TikTok in November under the username Romanticrocodile, the dog owner can be seen waking up her chihuahua, who’s called Levi, by cheering him out of bed. At the same time, Levi can be seen wiggling his tail with joy as he greets his mom.

The viral clip comes with a caption that says: “My mom sent me this video of how they wake up their dog every morning.” Followed by: “His happy little face.”

If you’re a dog owner, you know how excited your dog gets any time you cheer them on or give them some cuddles, and that’s because these little gestures make them feel loved.

One of the best ways to tell your dog that you love them is through mimicry, according to pet care experts at Rover. That’s because as descendants of pack animals, they enjoy the connections made from being part of a pack.

Learning your dog’s body language, for example, why they wag their tail or keep licking their lips, is the first step to helping them feel loved. Sharing a kind gaze with your dog when they look at you with loving eyes has also been proven to raise their oxytocin levels.

Human signals of affection, like hugs and kisses, may not translate to dogs, instead, you can try cuddles and naps, or even better, take them for a walk.

“Dogs thrive on routine and schedule, so a daily walk with training mixed in will help your dog understand how much you love and care for them,” the website says.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 3.5 million views and 684,300 likes on the platform.

One user, eudaimonia, commented: “I pray every single dog is loved this hard and wakes up like this.” And Debra said: “My dog and I have an agreement no talking before 9 am.”

Christina wrote: “If you don’t treat your dog like this I don’t want to know you!!” And Nads added: “I tell my girl Good Morninnnng like Bella from Alabama rush.”
