My apologies for using a photo that doesn’t show the whole outfit, but I figured it was worth bypassing an expanse of black velvet skirt to focus on the glorious upper half of this dramatic gown designed by Tamara Ralph, worn by Lily Collins at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards in London recently.
There’s something very “Grimms’ Fairy Tales” about this design (in a very good way): the silver roses that look as if they grew on the bodice, the over-the-top sleeves that mirror the rose theme, the sleekness of the velvet. Sleeping Beauty might wear this to a midnight ball, if she were lucky.
