As the festive season approaches we’ve been treated to plenty of super cute animal stories. From the vet who dressed up as Santa for shelter cats and dogs to the dachshund wrapped in Christmas paper.

We’ve also been putting together our weekly Newsweek Pet of the Week packed with readers’ pets and their antics.

If you have funny or cute videos and pictures of your pet, remember to follow the instructions at the end of this story and they could be next week’s Pet of the Week.

Winner

This week’s Pet of the Week is Ducky, a golden retriever and dachshund mix, or golden doxie, who is passionate about pup cups.

Duck, or Ducky, is just 7 months old and lives in Preston, Idaho, with her owner Stori Stotts.

Stotts told Newsweek: “She’s the sweetest little lady. She’s definitely got the stubbornness of a dachshund but the loving sweet nature of a golden retriever.”

Her mom is a long-haired golden retriever, while her dad is a short-haired dachshund.

In a hilarious video shared with Newsweek, Ducky was caught on camera tucking into a pup cup with the cup firmly on her face.

“She doesn’t eat them any other way,” laughed Stotts.

Our first finalist this week is Enzo, a rescue dog from a shelter in Orange County.

“Enzo was close to the 200th dog I’d fostered for Friend’s of Orange County’s Homeless Pets (FOCHP), then he helped me foster over 150 more,” said owner Tanya von Mittenwald.

Gentle giant Enzo is large but very sweet, and loves to look after smaller pets that his owner fosters.

“He’s also visited hospitals to cheer up patients-and is as tall as a hospital bed,” laughed von Mittenwald, talking about her beloved oversized pup.

Next up this week is Licorice the cat who lives with owner Angela Bishop in Pennsylvania.

Recently adopted from Morris Animal Refuge, Licorice is a loveable cat who is settling in well in his new forever home.

“He has an outgoing personality and is smart,” Bishop told Newsweek. “He knows how to use a smartphone at 4 months old.”

When he isn’t using a phone, Licorice loves hanging out with his new owner and is even settling into the season’s festivities: “He is enjoying the holidays including presents,” laughed Bishop.

Last but not least this year is Checkers, a 2-year-old rescue dog who despite only weighing 8 pounds has an outgoing personality that fills any space.

“His personality is so outgoing he greets every dog and owner who enters the dog park no matter their size,” owner Louise Powers from Arizona told Newsweek.

He loves to play with toys-although does often remove the stuffing completely-while he’s rarely ever seen without a wagging tail: “Everyone says that tail is like a fast metronome,” laughed Powers.
