Fans have questioned rapper Cardi B and her husband Offset’s relationship over the last few years after several allegations of him cheating surfaced, and it appears the record has been set straight.
In an Instagram Live, the “Bodak Yellow” singer shared her relationship status, and it turns out she has been “single for a minute.”
A recording of the live, which took place on December 10, was captured and shared on X, formerly Twitter, by the account @DailyLoud and revealed that Cardi B and Offset were no longer together.
In the video where the star appears to be lying down, she said: “I’ve been single for a minute now,” and went on to add: “I wanna start 2024, like, fresh, open, I’m curious for a new life, a new beginning.”
Her new single status has prompted an abundance of online chatter about comedian Pete Davidson, which has springboarded from her previous comments about him.
In 2018, Offset crashed one of Cardi B’s shows with a bouquet of flowers, asking her to take him back after the pair split. She jumped to his defenses online after he received trolling and commented on an instance where Davidson had been the victim of cyberbullying.
As reported by People at the time, Cardi B said: “Just earlier, you just saw how Pete Davidson was talking about how he don’t even want to be on this earth because mad people be coming at him every single day.”
She went on to say: “I wouldn’t want my baby father to have that feeling because of millions of people be bashing him every day. That’s a nasty feeling, and I wouldn’t want that.”
Davidson’s comment came not long after his split from his then-fiancée Ariana Grande, with Variety reporting that he deleted his account after he made that post.
Now that she is single, onlookers predict that Davidson and Cardi B could be the next power couple.
One social media user on X joked: “Pete Davidson is already in Cardi B DMs.”
“Watch Pete Davidson’s date her next,” another said, while a third added a gif of Tom Hanks’ character Forrest Gump running with the caption: “Pete Davidson right now.”
Hearing the news, another joked: “3 months from now ‘Pete Davidson and Cardi B rumored to be dating.'”
The comments also popped up on an Instagram post by Cosmopolitan about the pair splitting, with one app user adding: “Pete Davidson on his way>>>.”
Several social media users across both apps commented on the pair’s on and off status over the years, writing: “They break up and make up every 3 mins,” and “they break up every year yk she going be back.”
Cardi B and Offset started to date in 2017 and were married in September the same year. The pair separated in 2018 before coming back together in 2019, and in 2020, Cardi B filed for divorce but withdrew the filing not long after. They have two children together.
