Whether when she shows up at his games or when they’re smooching backstage at her concert in Argentina, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have made 2023’s headlines, becoming the year’s most notable new couple.
Fans can’t get enough of the darling duo. The Kansas Chiefs tight end was the second-most Googled athlete in America this year, and while NFL fans have complained about the focus on Kelce’s girlfriend during games, Swifties have been desperate for details.
Well, they can thank celebrity barber Patrick Regan for this latest sweet snap. Uploaded to Instagram on Monday, the photo shows the football star with his arms around the pop star, who is reaching up to kiss her beau on the cheek. And fans of the pop star were excited!
“Thanks @taylorswift for the Pics of the Gameday Freshy for @killatrav [Kelce],” wrote Regan. “I had an Amazing Time at Yesterdays Game.”
The adorable image quickly went viral, and fans couldn’t get enough.
“I think he’s the one y’all,”wrote @taylorraejepson on X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.
“They look like they [are] made for each other!” agreed Mehwish.
“Taylor finally getting the Christmas Season she deserves!!!” said Kel Bel.
“The way bro hold her, he thought he just won a lottery,” commented @kijanaYaa.
“It’s 9 am and im drunk crying bc i’ll never find a love like this,” joked Peace Eshiet.
Rumors that Swift and Kelce were dating began in circling in the summer, when the football star confessed to having a crush on the 33-year-old singer. During an episode of his New Heights podcast-which he hosts with brother and fellow NFL player Jason Kelce-the 34-year-old admitted he’d tried to get Swift’s attention after one of her gigs in Kansas City, but was unsuccessful.
Kelce said he attempted to gift the “Anti-Hero” star a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it, only to discover Swift wasn’t doing a meet-and-greet with fans.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings,” Kelce said.
In September, there were reports that the pair had been secretly hanging out, but it wasn’t until Swift showed up at Arrowhead Stadium on September 24 that the rumor mill went into overdrive. The songstress was spotted cheering on the Chiefs, alongside her date’s mom, Donna Kelce.
The starlet has attended numerous games since, often hanging out with Brittany Mahomes-wife of Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes-with their friendship garnering almost as much attention as her new romance.
After being named Time’s “Person of the Year” for 2023, Swift gave an in-depth interview where she clarified their relationship timeline.
She revealed they’d been dating since July, after Kelce mentioned on the New Heights podcast following his failed attempt to meet her.
“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said.
“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”
She knows many fans believe her attendance at the September 24 game-their first public appearance together-was their first real date.
“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game?” Swift said.
“We would never be psychotic enough to hard-launch a first date.”
She continued: “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care.
“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
