A social media video that captures a foster dog’s road to being adopted has tugged at heartstrings across the internet.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 14,500 times since it was first shared to TikTok on December 7, introduced TikTokers to Rayce Lamb and his foster dog Daisy, who had been a victim of abuse before being rescued.

The moving clip of Lamb stroking Daisy, after she returned unsettled and anxious from an overnight trial stay with a potential new family, has led to an outpouring of emotion online. The post shared that the foster pup’s adoption had been delayed.

“I’m Daisy’s foster carer and this video was taken the morning after an overnight stay with a potential adoption family,” Lamb told Newsweek.

“The family was great, but we quickly learned that Daisy isn’t a fan of cats, which the family had, so the adoption fell through”.

“Daisy is known to be a shaky girl but hasn’t had much interest since being rescued back in August 2023. She is a slightly older dog and is scared of both dogs and cats so needs a specific type of family,” he added.

Although the dog’s recent adoption plans had fallen through, Lamb expressed in the post that every hurdle in a foster dog’s journey should still be regarded as a step forward.

“Reminding the abused foster pup that every step forward in the adoption process is healing and worthy of celebration,” Lamb wrote in the post.

The post had been captioned: “Daisy’s overnight stay with her potential new family went fairly well! She loved the humans and enjoyed lots of snacks, and even some whipped cream! That being said, we still have some work to do getting her used to their cats.”

“So, no official adoption yet, but the family is ready to work with Daisy to try and make it work out”.

What Do the Comments Say?

Since it had been shared to the social media platform on December 7 by @RayceLamb, the TikTok post has been liked by over 1,100 users.

“I just woke up and I’m already crying,” one user wrote.

Another user added: “Thank you for helping Daisy heal”.
